Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Definition
Wednesday, April 24, 2024

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) refers to the organic referencing of pages on various search engines such as Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc. This web traffic acquisition technique aims to maximize the number of visitors by positioning website pages as high as possible in the SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) after a user search. To work on SEO, it is necessary to consider relevant semantic fields and keywords for positioning and to optimize one's website in coherence with these elements. There are 4 pillars of organic search optimization:

  • Technical aspects: page structure, loading time, title tags, internal linking, etc.
  • Content: content diversity, recency and updates, semantic field coherence, no duplicate content...
  • Netlinking: the visibility and authority of your site and page, i.e., links from other websites pointing to yours.
  • Local SEO: optimizing your visibility in local searches, particularly through listings such as Google My Business.

Organic search engine optimization does not account for paid advertising driven by SEA (Search Engine Advertising). Therefore, it is a highly valuable component to implement for achieving good search rankings while minimizing traffic acquisition costs.
